HALLOWED GROUNDS
JAN 17, 2014
The evening begins with a haunting hymn for cello and bass by Alfred Schnittke, the father of polystylism. Also hear Tchaikovsky's String Quartet No. 1, the piece that famously brought Leo Tolstoy to tears.

OF THREE MINDS
FEB 7, 2014
Dvořák's Piano Quintet No. 2 is widely acknowledged as a masterpiece of the form. Paired with Beethoven's Trio for clarinet, cello, and piano, and music by Drzwiecki based on a Wallace Stevens poem, this program boasts ingenuity from three musical minds.

MIDORI!
