HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS
Holiday Greetings from the Cincinnati Pops Orchestra! HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS is an exceptionally diverse collection of Yuletide classics—including “Deck the Halls,” “O Holy Night” with powerhouse tenor Rodrick Dixon, and New York Voices’ jazzy twist on “Santa Claus is Comin’ to Town,” alongside Gounod’s “Ave Maria” and “Yes, Virginia, There is a Santa Claus,” which cleverly combines Edward Elgar’s “Nimrod” from Enigma Variations with text from an 1897 editorial in the New York Sun, narrated by Broadway star Brian Stokes Mitchell and expressing the child-like wonderment we all feel during the holiday season. This disc is the culmination of a year-long celebration of the inaugural season of Pops Conductor John Morris Russell. |

A City That Sings: Cincinnati’s Choral Tradition 1800-2012
This book celebrates choral music in the Queen City in words and pictures.
Since its earliest days, as a small village called Losantiville, Cincinnati has never been without its choristers. That legacy continues today in schools and churches, and in choruses amateur and professional. A City That Sings, a profusely illustrated volume, brings together the work of four scholars – Frank Pendle, Karin Pendle, Craig Doolin, and Catherine Roma – who together present a composite portrait of choral music throughout Cincinnati’s history. |
