Louis Lortie, whose performances have been called irresistible, fresh and compelling, will perform Mozart’s festive Piano Concerto No. 21, nicknamed the Elvira Madigan for its beloved romantic theme used in a movie of the same name. Fellow Hungarian composers Bartók and Ligeti continue the “symphonic-folk” tradition with sounds that are both modernist and listener-friendly.
